Obituary of Bridget M. (Buckley) Bator

Bridget M. (Buckley) Bator, 71, of Peabody, died early Monday evening at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Edward Bator with whom she shared over 47 year of marriage. Born in County Cork, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Sarah (Taylor) Buckley. She was raised and educated in Ireland, later immigrated to the United States in 1955 where she lived in Malden for 20 years. She has spent the last 30 year living in Peabody. She worked for Cardinal Health in Peabody for over 15 years and following her retirement, worked another 8 years at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody doing laundry for the resident prior to her illness. While living in Ireland, she was a well known Professional Camogie Player, a female version of Hurling. She was a member of the Hurling and Football Club of Ireland and she also played for County Cork, Province of Munster and the Glen Rovers, all in Ireland. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, bingo, and playing the lottery. She was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan and enjoyed listening to music. Mrs. Bator she was a loving and caring mother and wife who enjoyed spending time with her family. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Bator of Peabody and Edward and Betty Bator of Jacksonville, Fla., a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and David Conway of Amesbury, a brother and two sisters-in-law, William and Mary Buckley of Ireland, and Muriel Buckley of Australia, three sisters and a brother-in-law, Haddie Walsh, Chrissie O’ Neill, and Sally and Noel Cummins, all of Ireland, four grandchildren, Brandon Bator, Jessica Conway, Norma Rice, and Richard Pacheco, three great grandchildren Christian Clouser, Brayden Pacheco, and Chloe Rice. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Denis Buckley and Maudie O’ Brien. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 Noon in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Forestdale Cemetery in Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Rosewood Nursing Home, 22 Johnson St., Peabody, MA 01960.
