Obituary of Donald Dolan Tulloch

Donald Dolan Tulloch, 89, husband of Rose M. Bruno, died with his family by his side on Friday, November 01, 2013 at the NSMC – Salem Hospital. Donald was born in Devon, CT on July 24, 1924, son of the late Richard A. and Catherine (Francis) Tulloch. He was raised and educated in Devon, CT. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 1942 and participated in active operations against the enemy at Guadalcanal and the British Solomon Is., and being honorably discharged in 1946. During his working career he pursued his education at the Peterson School of Engineering in Boston and Penn State. In 1955, the family moved to Peabody. Donald began his working career at the Connecticut Light & Power Company, and Boston Edison as a nuclear power plant engineer. He then worked in the same capacity at the Pilgrim and Mystic Station Power Plants until his retirement in1979. He dedicated his entire life to his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his flower and vegetable gardens, fishing, wintering in Florida and traveling to Europe and Hawaii. In addition to his wife with whom he shared 68 years of marriage, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Barbara J. and Joseph Bedard of Peabody, and Richard A. Tulloch of Holyoke; his grandchildren, Melinda Tulloch, Matthew Tulloch, Michael Bedard, David Bedard and Joseph Bedard; 9 great-grandchildren, Jake, Evan, Jared, Emily, Bonnie, Brian, Anthony, Anna and Abigail; a niece Patricia Field and her husband Gary. He was predeceased by 2 brothers James Stewart and Richard Tulloch. Donald’s family will received relatives and friends on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
