Obituary of Brian Collins White

Brian Collins White, 83, husband of Barbara J. (Kirlis) White of Peabody, died surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehab Center in Peabody. Brian was born in Lowell on December 8, 1929, son of the late George A. and Mildred J. (McNabb) White. He was raised and educated in Lowell and Salem. In 1947 he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and served with Co. A, 813 EAB, at Fort Warren, WY performing maintenance and repairs until receiving his honorable discharge. Brian was employed for 30 years as a Patrolman for the City of Peabody Police Department until his retirement in 1984. He and the late Buzzy Surman were very active raising funds for the Jimmy Fund through the annual baseball game. Brian was the “star pitcher” for the Peabody Police Department. He dedicated his entire life to his family. He was so proud of his 3 grandchildren and his great-granddaughter, all of whom he cherished. Brian and Barbara enjoyed dancing and traveling with their family to the North Conway area. Brian was also an avid golfer who enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends. In addition to his loving wife with whom he shared 64 years of marriage, Brian is survived by a son and his wife, Daniel B. and Joan White of Peabody; a daughter-in-law, Vera White of Peabody; 3 grandchildren, Daniel White and his fiancée Jessica Mauro, of Boston, Christopher White, Lisa Quirk and her husband Kevin all of Peabody, a great-granddaughter, Christine Quirk; 3 sisters, Eleanor Stanford of Danvers, Faith Peura of PA, Donna Weidner of IN; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Brian C. White Jr., in 2000 and his two sisters, Virginia Fleet and Constance McCarthy. As per Brian’s request to his family, his service was private.
