Obituary of Anne (Radick) "Andrea" Gromko
Anne “Andrea” (Radick) Gromko, of Lynnfield, died Wednesday morning following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late William F. Gromko.
Born in Manchester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Radick. She began her education in Manchester, NH, and was a graduate of Burdette School of Business and the Lee Institute.
Anne was a soloist who performed in classical, opera, and religious concerts and was trained by and studied with her New York vocal teacher. She was the recipient of two Certificate of Commendations, one from a former president for her participation in events for the good of the country, and the second from the Chief of Police in Peabody for saving the life of one of her tenants.
Anne was very active in her community, especially at the former J.B.ThomasHospital in Peabody. She was a manager of the gift shop and served as past president of both the J.B. Thomas Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and Hospital Aid Association where she helped organized a reception to host and welcome all of the New England Hospital Administrators to a seminar reunion, a first for the J.B. Thomas Hospital.
When her husband passed away unexpectedly in 1984 she became the sole manager of Gromko Construction Company and Olde County Real Estate and became a member of the National Association of Women Executives.
She is survived by her grandson David “Scott” and his wife Ann Marie Gromko of Danvers, three great grandchildren, Hannah E., Chloe R., and Maxwell E. Gromko, her son-in-law, Dennis Conway of CA and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son William F. Gromko, Jr., grandson William F. Gromko III, and her daughter Evelyn Gromko.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relative and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to a charity of one’s choice.
