Obituary of Dana B Rydgren

Dana B. Rydgren, 63, of Peabody and formerly of Salem and Lynn, died Thursday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a lengthy battle with COPD. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late John and Evelyn (Gran) Rydgren. He was raised and educated in Lynn, later lived in Salem and has spent the last 17 years living in Peabody. After graduating from high school, Dana entered the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War before he was honorably discharged in September 1973. Dana was employed with US Foods in the warehouse as a fork lift driver for over 20 years before he retired. Dana was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching all of Boston’s professional sports teams. He also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, playing his guitar and listening to music, especially his favorite group, The Beatles. He also was a member of the AOH in Peabody. Dana is survived by his two daughters, Erin Rydgren of Iowa and Sarah Rydgren of Salem, his brother, Norman Rydgren of Danvers, his sister, Nancy Baldwin of Peabody and by his five grandchildren, Maverick Lindsey, Cealey, Lily, Serenity, and Reminy Rose Bumann, a niece Lauren and her husband Bob Cummings and also by several other nieces and nephews here and in West Virginia, and by his special friend Linda. He was predeceased by his daughter, Krista Q. Rydgren. At the family’s and Dana’s request, casual attire is suggested. Visiting hours for Dana will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Service at 8:00 PM to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
