Obituary of Lita A. (Caires) Guzofski

Lita A. (Caires) Guzofski, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Merrimack Valley Hospice House on the morning of Friday, November 8, 2013. Lita was born in Peabody graduating from Peabody High School in 1953, and she settled in the city to raise her family. In 1954, she enlisted and proudly served in the U. S. Marine Corps until being honorably discharged. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Thomas) Caires of Peabody and wife of the late James Guzofski with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Lita was a leader with the both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and enjoyed running the children’s bowling league at Eastman Gelatin. She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed gardening, spending time with her large family, and going to Foxwoods. Lita is survived by her children and their spouses, Pastor James Guzofski, Jr. and his late wife Mary of Northwood, NH, Linda and David Bogdan of Georgetown, Sandra and David Ott of Waukomis, OK, Richard Guzofski and his companion Robin Mullaley of Abington, Dennis Guzofski and his companion Janice Maramaldi of Haverhill, and Jay and Michele Guzofski of Plaistow, NH with whom she resided for the past 2 years; her brothers, Benny Caires of Cape Canaveral, FL, and Lenny Caires and his wife Jackie of Colebrook, NH; her grandchildren, Mary Katherine, Phillip and wife Emily, Adrienne, Kristen, Sara and husband Chris, Rich Jr, Matti, DJ, Haleigh, Adam and Jason; her 2 great-grandchildren, Isaac and Anndi, and many nieces and nephews. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her son Pastor Jim will officiate at her graveside service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 100 Rear Cedar Grove Ave., Peabody. Her family requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Lita’s name to Paralyzed Veterans of America, www.pva.org , 801 18th Street NW, Washington, DC 20006.
