Obituary of Dionisios Diamantopoulos
Dionisios Diamantopoulos, 88, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at Salem Hospital following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Anna (Fermanis) Diamantopoulos with whom he shared over 57 years of marriage.
Born in Gargaliani, Messinias, Greece, he was the son of the late Ioannis and Chrisoula (Tsironis) Diamantopoulos. He was raised and educated in Greece and had served in the Greek Army.
He later immigrated with his family to the United States in 1970 and has lived in Peabody for the last 43 years. While living in Peabody, he was employed with Cut Rite Tannery as a cutter for 32 years before he retired.
Dionisios was a member of the St. Val’s Club and loved gardening, but he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and later his grandchildren and sharing in of all their endeavors.
Besides his loving wife of 57 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Chrissa and her husband Stavros Pissios and Ekaterina and her husband Nikolaos Gazios, all of Peabody, seven grandchildren, Christos, Dionisios, Alexandros, Dimitrios, Maria, Ana and her husband Konstandino, and Chrysanthie, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5 – 7 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made in his name to the St. Vasilios Handicapped Access Fund, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
