Obituary of Joyce (Cronin) Cunney

Joyce (Cronin) Cunney, beloved wife of Richard L. Cunney of Danvers, and loving mother of two daughters, Elizabeth and her husband Fran of South Boston and Taryn and her fiancé Rob of Melrose, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at her home with her family by her side after a hard fought battle with bladder cancer. Joyce was the cherished daughter of the late Rita (Coughlan) and Edward T. Cronin of Peabody. Prior to and since her diagnosis, Joyce cared for her mother until Rita’s recent death. Joyce was born and raised in Peabody, later moving to Danvers to raise her own family. She graduated from PeabodyHigh School in the class of ’62. She graduated from Chandler School of Women in Boston and for years worked at the Boston Bar Association until dedicating her life to raising her daughters. Joyce was an amazing mom, loyal friend, an adventure seeker and the life of the party. She loved life and fought hard until the very end, a true testament to the love she had for her daughters and husband. In addition to her husband and daughters, Joyce is survived by her special sister Janet Flynn and her husband Paul of Peabody. Also siblings, E. Robert Cronin and his wife Barbara Of Hubbardston, MA, Philip Cronin and his wife Jennifer of Salem, MA, Elizabeth McGivern and her husband James of Danvers. Joyce was a special Auntie to many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She also leaves so many close friends and her lovable soft- coated Wheaten Terrier, Mulligan. She was predeceased one month ago by her mother and best friend, Rita Cronin. She was also predeceased by her father Edward, brother Neil Cronin and in-laws, Dr. John and Anna Cunney. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 9:00 AM from the Conway , Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody at 10:00 AM. Joyce's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
