Obituary of Francis J. Hynes
Francis J. Hynes, 83, of Sutton St., beloved husband of Geraldine (McGrath) Hynes of Peabody, died Saturday afternoon at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late John and Nellie (Morrissey) Hynes. He lived there in his youth and attended Lynn schools. He graduated from Lynn English High School. He also graduated from Bryant Stratton College in Boston.
Mr. Hynes was an Accountant with the Swift Company of Salem and Somerville for many years before his retirement 23 years ago.
He enjoyed being with his family, gardening, bowling, travelling, was a member of the Peabody Golden Agers and volunteered with the Peabody Council on Aging.
He is survived by: his wife, Geraldine (McGrath) Hynes of Peabody, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage; two daughters, Carol Papi and Joyce Maglione, both of Peabody; four grandchildren, Janet Schmink of Danvers, Peter Maglione, Christine Ford, and Robert Maglione, all of Peabody; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Maglione, Tyler Schmink and Mackenzie (Ed Note, YES lower case k); one sister, Margaret Hynes of Peabody, a sister-in-law and her spouse, Joyce & Francis Burke of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Morris Hynes, John Hynes, Thomas Hynes, Raymond Hynes, Henry Hynes, Vincent Hynes, and brothers-in-law, Peter Maglione, Jr. and James W. Papi.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
