Obituary of David R. Ellison

David R Ellison, 49, of Peabody passed away unexpectedly on November 20th at his home. Born in Danvers, MA he was the son of Shirley (Hicks) Ellison and the late Robert Ellison of Peabody. He grew up in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School class of 1982. Though he lived most of his life in Peabody, he also lived in both San Francisco, CA and Dallas, TX over the years. Texas was one of his favorite states. David had many passions in life including the thirst for knowledge. He loved history and facts and loved to read the World Almanac. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. David loved to cook, listen to music, watch British comedies and spend time on the internet to meet people around the world. He had a love for everything British, the queen, their tea and their flag, which he had tattooed on his arm. He had hoped to one day live in England. His passion for travel took him to 41 of the 50 states and several trips to England. One of his favorite musicians was Gary Numan. David was very active with all the Numan fan clubs. He attended several Gary Numan concerts during his visits to England. He also had a deep interest in genealogy and spent countless hours researching his family at the library. David was joined by his Aunt on most of his genealogy discoveries. David is survived by his mother Shirley Ellison of Peabody and her companion Stuart B. Spencer; his sister and her husband, Donna and Sean Duffy of Huntersville, NC; his beloved aunt, Judith Riley and cousin Todd Riley of Reading, MA; his cousin and her husband, Elizabeth and Christopher Medina of NM, and his many friends whom he considered as his extended family. He will be missed by many who loved him. David’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. David loved and cared for several cats in his neighborhood and we are requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Massachusetts SPCA http://www.mspca.org/ in David’s memory.
