Obituary of Mary Theresa O'Hara

Mary Theresa O’Hara, 81, of Peabody died Tuesday at the Hathorne Hill Genesis Health Care Center in Danvers after a long illness. She was born in Peabody on May 21, 1932, the daughter of the late William S. and Mary F. (McVann) O’Hara and was a lifelong Peabody resident. Mary was a secretary at the former United Shoe Machine Corps in Beverly for 32 years. She later worked in the BishopFenwick High School Cafeteria in Peabody for 2 years prior to her retirement. She had been very active in St. Thomas the ApostleChurch serving on many committees and helping in various ways. She had been an avid reader enjoying reading novels. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lois O’Hara of Peabody, and her nieces and nephews, David O'Hara of Peabody, Maureen King of Boxford, Kathy Mc Mahan of Danvers, Patricia Bettencourt of Peabody, Karen Mc Phee of Tewksbury, Brian O’Hara of Portsmouth,NH and Mark S. O’Hara of Hamilton, and many grand nieces and grand nephews. She was the sister of the late Peabody Police Officer John “Jack” O’Hara, William O’Hara, Edward O”Hara and Agnes Howell. A Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the ApostleChurch, Rt. 114, Peabody /Salem line at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St.Suite 102-B, Danvers, MA 01923 in her memory.
