Obituary of Emedia "Mitzi" L. (DiPietropaolo) Rogers

Emidia “Mitzi” (DiPietropaolo) Rogers PEABODY-- Emidia “Mitzi” (DiPietropaolo) Rogers, 88, beloved wife of Bartley A. Rogers, Jr. of Peabody, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon November 25, 2013 at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Peabody after taking a fall on Sunday. Born in New Castle, DE, she was the daughter of the late Emidio and Vincenza (Merletti) DiPietropaolo. She grew up there and graduated from the Catholic High School before enrolling in the Wilmington General School of Nursing which trained nurses about to enter the military. She enlisted in the United States Air Force, and was stationed at Forbes AFB in Topeka, KS when she married her husband Bartley. She worked as an Operating Room Nurse at the VA Hospital in Wilmington, DE for several years. She would get involved with several Delaware and federal programs where nursing volunteers were requested, among the first Flu shots to be administered, etc. Mitzi had a gift of being organized with great leadership and administrative skills, and using her natural gift of wanting to help others she stepped in wherever she could serve people best. She was very active and involved in her churches, with a very devoted Roman Catholic Faith. She and her husband moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody where they enjoyed their last seven years together on the North Shore of Boston. She will be dearly missed by her family and those she met during her adventurous life. She is survived by her husband Bartley A. Rogers, Jr. of Peabody, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Rogers & her husband Richard Tenby of Boston; a son Bartley A. Rogers, III of Lynn; a grandson Owen Tenby of Boston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by her siblings Julie Voss, Francis DiPietropaolo, Rosaria “Rose” Myers, William DiPietropaolo, and Clara Campese. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday December 14, 2013 at 9:30 AM in the Brooksby Village Chapel for a Funeral Mass, followed by a short reception in the McIntosh Room. Urn burial with military honors will be in New Castle County Veterans Cemetery, Bear, DE at a future date. Funeral planned with Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody.
