Obituary of Carl R. Gottstein, Sr.

Carl Robert Gottstein, Sr., loving husband of Linda Trimarchi Gottstein, died peacefully on his birthday, December 11, 2013 at Beverly Hospital in Beverly, MA. Carl, son of the late Carl E. Gottstein and Alberta Conley Gottstein, was born in Albany where he lived most of his life, having recently moved to Massachusetts. He is survived by three daughters and their spouses; Rebecca Gottstein Holden & her husband John, Carolyn Gottstein Gannon & her husband Brian, and Emily Gottstein Frey & her husband Benjamin; two sons, Carl R. Gottstein, Jr. and his wife Tina, and Ronald L. Gottstein. He is also survived by his sister Carol & her husband Wayne Caban and two brothers John F. Gottstein and Joseph G. Gottstein. He delighted in his grandchildren, Ashlee, Maynard and Adam Gottstein, Tom Bowyer, and Murphy Jane and Jack Holden. He is also survived by his dearest childhood friend, John Rosettie and his wife Gail. Carl loved music and was the guiding force in his family's entertainment venue, the University Twist Palace in Albany (NY) in the 1960s. Carl was a graduate of Albany High School and was a long time employee of the City of Albany Department of Public Works (NY). Carl loved being a father and grandfather and was thankful for the time he had with his family and took great pride in their many accomplishments. At Carl's own request, there will be no formal viewing or service at this time. Cremation planned with Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home in Peabody, MA.
