Obituary of James J. LeBlanc

James J. LeBlanc, 94 years, of Peabody, husband of the late Mary R. (Bettencourt) LeBlanc with whom he had shared 64 years of marriage, died Wednesday at the Peabody Glen Nursing Center in Peabody. Mr. LeBlanc was born June 19, 1908 in Peabody son of the late Emanuel and Rose (Hardiman) LeBlanc. He was raised in Peabody and received his education from the Thomas Carroll School and Peabody High School. Mr. LeBlanc was employed for 50 years as an automobile mechanic at various North Shore dealerships retiring in 1975 from the former Beacon Chevrolet in Lynn. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling and photography. He is survived by a son and his wife, James P. and Eva R. LeBlanc of Peabody; a daughter and her husband, Jacqueline M. and Peter A. Torigian of Peabody; 8 grandchildren, Mark LeBlanc of Amesbury, Stephen LeBlanc, James LeBlanc, Jeanne Burbridge, Laurie Nelson, Linda Kass all of Peabody, Nancy Buczko of Salem and Sara Runnals of Danvers; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, William LeBlanc of Rochester, NH; 4 sisters, Marie Burris of Tewksbury, Gertrude Rahilly of Melrose, Leona Santisi of Danvers and Theresa Manning of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Rose Hanna, John Henry , Francis Pete , Raymond and Edward LeBlanc who died in the battle of the Coral Sea in WWII. His funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, at the 20 Church St., Peabody location (978-531-0472) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923.
