Obituary of Maria (Cordeiro) Estrela

Maria (Cordeiro) Estrela,78, of Peabody, passed away Monday afternoon at the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Joao S. Estrela. Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal on February 18, 1935, the daughter of the late Mariano and Luiza(Trindade)Cordeiro. She was raised and educated in Sao Miguel, until moving to Peabody with her husband, 44 years ago. She worked at SalemHospital for 34 years prior to her retirement. She was also a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. She enjoyed cooking an assortment of food for her family, sewing many types of things, and one of the most important things to her was, not only her loving family, but taking long walks with her twin sister. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by 2 daughters, 1 son, 8 loving grandchildren, 3 great grandsons, her beloved twin sister, one brother, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends. She was also predeceased by a brother. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19th, from 5-8pm at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 20th, at 8:00A.M at the funeral home followed by a Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody at 9:00A.M.
