Obituary of Viola (Helik) Rourke

Viola (Hilik) Rourke, 72, of Lynn, died Thursday evening at the Abbott House Nursing Facility , Lynn after a short illness. She was the wife of John J. Rourke with whom she shared 48 years of marriage. She was born in the Bronx, New York on November 17,1933 the daughter of the late Anthony and Helen (Sneciek) Hilik and had resided in Peabody for 40 years before moving to Lynn 18 years ago. She was a graduate of Peabody High School and had attended Boston University School of Nursing. She loved to cook and care for her family. Surviving her besides her husband are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy and Gregg Jensen of Groveland, Sheila Rourke of Lynn and Debbie and Neal Slafsky of Boca Raton, Fl., a brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Evelyn Hilik of Ft. Lauderdale, a Sister, Wanda Robeski of Saugus , 5 grandchildren, Jessica and Patrick Jensen of Groveland, Zachary, Martin and Kevin Slafsky all of Boca Raton, Fl and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Suzie Rourke. A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’ s Church at Lynn Common at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
