Obituary of Constance A. (Borawski) Desmond

Constance A. (Borawski) Desmond, 82 of Stoneham and formerly of Peabody and Lynn, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Life Care Center in Stoneham after a short illness. She was the wife of the late John T. Desmond. She was born in Dorchester, MA, on July 30, 1931, the daughter of the late Tanasi and Mary (Dezulk) Borawski and following the death of her mother was raised by her foster parents, Bernard S. and Annie J. Quinn. She was educated in St. Charles Grammar School and received her high school diploma from the Mission High School in Boston in 1949. She had resided in Woburn, Stoneham, Lynn and Peabody. Connie had been employed as a national reservations operator at the Statler Hilton Hotel in Boston. She later worked at the GTE Sylvania in Woburn as a secretary in the Engineering Department. When Sylvania closed, she then became a secretary in the Town of Stoneham School Department. After marrying and moving to Lynn, She became the receptionist and secretary at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea for 15 years prior to her retirement. She had been a member and past president of the Emblem Club of Lynn and enjoyed going to social gathering with her family and friends. She is survived by a niece, Mary Alice (Borawski) Connors and her husband Tom and their children, Erin and Sean Connors of Rockland, her cousins, Mary Lou Matulevicius of Coopersburg, PA, Anne Marie Glasheen of Wakefield, RI, Mark E. Sullivan and Albert Amodeo of Wilmington, and Ann and Gary Eastman of Stoneham, her dear friends, Diane La Liberte, Barbara Aberle, Jodi Tighe and Ann White and many other dear friends. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 11:30 AM at the CalvaryCemetery, Woburn. Please convene at the Central St. Woburn Gate at 11:15 AM. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite 102B, Danvers, MA 01923 or to any veterans organization of your choosing in her memory.
