Obituary of Raymond B. "Stoney" Jackson

Raymond B. “Stoney” Jackson, 88, of Peabody, husband of Ernestine L. (Bourgeois) Jackson, died on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at NSMC Union Hospital in Lynn after being stricken at his home. Mr. Jackson was born in Peabody, on December 12, 1925, son of the late Anthony and Ana (Yanuis) Jackson. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy on July 11, 1944 as a Seaman First Class and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations and was honorably discharged on June 26, 1946. Stoney was employed for 40 years at Eastman Gelatine Corporation retiring in 1985 as a supervisor at the company’s water treatment plant a position which he held for several years. He was a loving father who devoted his life creating a home for his family. He was very supportive of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with their sport achievements. As hobbies he was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. In addition to his wife with whom he shared 67 years of marriage on December 29, 2013, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Richard M. and Elaine Jackson of Danvers, Nancy L. and Charlie Floyd, Edward P. and Jean Jackson and Paul D. Jackson all of Peabody; 7 grandchildren, Brad and Kevin Jackson, Chuck and Patrick Floyd, Nicole Galopim, and Ross and Sarah Jackson; 8 great grandchildren, Arianna, Gage and Savannah Floyd, Biana Galopim, Derek, Alex, Olive and Grace Jackson; 2 sisters, Lillian Murphy and her husband Leonard, and Alberta Boylan all of Peabody; a sister-in-law, Joan Bourgeois of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Raymond B. Jackson Jr. and 2 sisters, Mary Budka and Marcella Imondi. His family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody. His funeral will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody.
