Obituary of Eileen T. (O'Brien) Cullen

Eileen T. (O’ Brien) Cullen 88 years, beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Nick Cullen Sr., died Saturday evening at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody after a brief illness. Mrs. Cullen was born May 24, 1917 in Salem, daughter of the late William and Mary (Sweeney) O’ Brien. She was raised in Peabody, graduated from St. John the Baptist Girls High School and received her Associates Degree in Dental Hygienics from Forsyth College of Dental Hygienics in Boston. She was lifelong resident of Peabody who also wintered in Florida from 1978 to 2000. Mrs. Cullen was employed as dental hygienist for many years. Following her marriage she became a housewife and mother who raised her family. Later her entire life revolved around her grandchildren. She returned to work in 1978 as a part time sales clerk at Jordan Marsh where she remained until 1984. She was a member of St. John the Baptist’ s Ladies Sodality and the Mothers Guild also a member of the Pokeno Group that consisted of her in-laws and many of her friends. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching jeopardy and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her 2 sons and their wives, John J. and Susan E. Cullen of Naples, FL and Thomas F. Cullen Jr. and Sandi Cullen of Peabody; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Gayton, Thomas L. Cullen and Jacqueline Cullen all of Peabody and Crystal Cullen of Naples; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her many friends. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location, Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
