Thomas E. Goodridge
SALEM—Thomas E. Goodridge, 66, beloved husband of Marietta (Polemenako) Goodridge, died peacefully Sunday morning February 2, 2014 at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital while in the comforting presence of his family. He will be dearly missed by all that met him.
Born in Revere, he was the son of the late Harold and Evelyn (Martignetti) Goodridge. He grew up in Revere and graduated from Revere High School. He then attended Newman Prep and graduated from Salem State College.
Mr. Goodridge was a Special Education Teacher in the Salem School system where he worked for a career of 27 years before retiring. His teaching career included positions at both the Collins Middle School and most recently at Salem High School.
Thomas enjoyed supporting extracurricular activities for Salem youth. He especially loved coaching his son and daughter in baseball and basketball. He was an avid general sports fan with a passion for Boston sports. One passion of his was the arts. He was a gifted musician and loved playing the drums. Music of the 60’s and 70’s were his favorites. Another creative talent of his was writing and this included anything from poems to short stories.
He is survived by his wife Marietta Goodridge of Salem, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage; a son Peter Goodridge of Salem; a daughter Nicole Goodridge of Salem; two brothers Richard Goodridge and Paul Goodridge, both of NH, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
