Obituary of Silvina (daCunha) Lopes Duarte

PEABODY— Silvina (daCunha) Lopes Duarte, 75, of Peabody, passed away suddenly Tuesday evening at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the Late Antonio Jorge Duarte, who passed away in 2002. Silvina was born in Murganheira, Portugal on October 26, 1938 , the daughter of the late Carlos da Cunha and Isilda (Lopes) Ferreira. She was raised and educated in Portugal until moving to Peabody in 1970. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Osram Sylvania in Danvers and Salem as a machine operator for 25 years. Silvina was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody and also a member of the Portuguese Continental Union. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden and cooking up various types of meals. She is survived by a son and his wife, Carlos and Lisa Duarte of Connecticut, a daughter, Rosa Alves of Peabody, her grandchildren, Jonathan and Ryan Alves of Peabody, and Connor Duarte of Connecticut. She also leaves behind her siblings, Carlos daCunha and his wife Marlene of Peabody, Alberto daCunha and his wife Manuela of Peabody, Alcino daCunha and his wife Graca, Casmiro daCunha and his wife Adelaide, and Maria Lucinda Nascimento and her husband Jose of Portugal, and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 – 8PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody at 9:00 AM.
