Obituary of Chin Big Yuen Hor

Chin Big Yuen Hor PEABODY—Chin Big Yuen Hor, 89, beloved wife of the late Kim Liu Hor, died peacefully on Thursday February 13, 2014 at her home. Born in Canton, China, she grew up there and emigrated to the United States exactly 60 years to the day in 1954. She settled in Boston where she lived for many years, then recently lived in Peabody. Mrs. Hor was a gifted Seamstress working in the women’s garment industry in Boston. She later worked for a company that made hospital wear supplied to the medical field, and retired 20 years ago. “Mom” as she was affectionately known to many was very devoted to family values. She was a great cook, and would make clothing for her children and grandchildren. She was happiest and most passionate about living life simply and gathering with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by those she met, and her family is grateful for the many cherished memories. She is survived by her adult children and their spouses, Shelly Szeto & her husband Man of Albany, NY, Lillian Wong & her husband Rick of Peabody, Valerie Soohoo & her husband Mark of Torrance, CA, Shelland Szeto & her husband Arthur of Peabody, Elizabeth Beauchamp of Peabody, and Barry Ho & his wife Kathy of Peabody; 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, 4 nieces and 1 nephew. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Kee Ove Chin. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday February 18, 2014 from 3 – 6:30 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, with a Funeral Ceremony honoring her life at 6:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Cremation will take place after the ceremony.
