Obituary of Arthur "Archie D. Espinola

Arthur D. “Archie” Espinola DANVERS—Arthur D. “Archie” Espinola, 86, beloved husband of Frances (Dubiel) (Kappotis) Espinola of Danvers, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning at Beverly Hospital after taking an ill turn at his home. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Saul and Mary (Conde) Espinola. He grew up in Peabody and lived there most of his life. He lived in Danvers for nearly 35 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, with service in the United States Army. He enjoyed his career as a Machinist, retiring from Babco-Textron of Danvers 24 years ago. Archie belonged to the Portuguese-American War Vets of Peabody, the American Legion of Middleton, the Vittori-Rocci Post of Beverly, and the Polish Club in Danvers. He was a former member of the Masons and Aleppo Temple of Shriners, and with his love for the ocean was a member of the Jubilee Yacht Club with his boat “The Harem”. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Archie’s favorite passion was his love of music of all kinds. He was a gifted musician, playing the brass, string and keyborad instruments. He played with the Rawhides Marching Band, the Swing Band, and the Jazz Band. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Dubiel) (Kappotis) Espinola of Danvers, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage; a son Arthur J. Espinola of CA, and two daughters Marlene & her husband Charles Coombs and Deborah Espinola all of Beverly; his step-children Linda Corneau of Danvers, Kenneth & his wife Juli Kappotis of Raymond, NH, M. Scott Kappotis & his partner Diane McAllister of Swampscott, and Pamela Kappotis & her partner Frank Polo of Beverly; three grandchildren Philip Coombs, Anita Coombs, and Charlotte Shields all of Beverly; nine step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Last, but not least, he is greatly missed by their cat Spooky. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by his first wife Ana (Almeida) Espinola, and brothers Lionel and Conrad Espinola. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday February 19, 2014 from 5 – 7:30 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Ceremony honoring his life at 7:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Cremation will follow the gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 200 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970.
