Obituary of John Bilcavitch
John Dorsey Bilcavitch, 86, formerly of Allen Rd and Fairweather Apartments at 20 Central St., died Monday evening at the Lynn Union Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in North Weymouth, MA, he was the son of the late James and Lena (Petkavitch) Billert. He lived in Peabody for most of his youth and attended Peabody public schools.
Mr. Bilcavitch enlisted in the United States Army, and served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign during World War II. He earned two (2) Bronze Stars.
He worked for several leather factories, and General Electric in Lynn before his employment as a Plant Engineer at Salem State College where he worked for 22 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a bowling enthusiast, and also enjoyed fishing, and going to the race track for the dogs or horses, whether it would be Suffolk Downs, Wonderland or Rockingham.
He is survived by: a brother, Peter P. Billert of Stoneham; several nieces and nephews, and a dear, close friend Soko Adamopoulos and his daughter, Virginia Fletcher both of Lynn.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 8:00 a.m. from the
Conway, Cahill- Brodeur funeral home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody fadcility followed by a funeral Mass in
St. Ann's Church, So. Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Buriall in St.
Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
