Obituary of Josephine A. (Flynn) Tierney

Josephine A. (Flynn) Tierney, 82, of Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Rainbow Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Edward Tierney. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Alice (Schmottlach) Flynn. She was raised and educated in Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. She later lived in Lynnfield, Atlanta, and Tucson, Arizona and has spent the last year living in Peabody. She was an executive secretary and research statistician for North Eastern Airline and later Delta Airlines. She worked for over 25 years, before retiring in 1984. Mrs. Tierney enjoyed extensive traveling and playing bridge. She is survived by her three sons, Scott Salisbury of Wakefield, Mark Salisbury of Lynnfield and Jon Salisbury of Amesbury. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Lynn.
