Obituary of Frank R. Fagerlund

Frank R. Fagerlund, 70, died Saturday evening at the Harborside Healthcare/Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers following a brief illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Egon and Karen (Larson) Fagerlund. He lived in Brooklyn for many years, then moved to California where he completed his high school education. He went on to study at UCLA where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, and eventually Masters in Electrical Engineering. He was a recent candidate for PhD at Northeastern University. Mr. Fagerlund was an acclaimed Electrical Engineer with Hughes Aircraft Engine Corporation in California for many years. He retired from Lockheed Company several years ago. Mr. Fagerlund enjoyed reading the New York Times, traveling throughout the United States and Europe, playing cards, Bridge, and Chess.He once had a match with Bobby Fisher. He also enjoyed the music of Ray Charles. He is survived by: two sons, Gregory Fagerlund of Peabody and Glenn Fagerlund of Pepperill; two grandchildren, Ashliegh Fagerlund of Palm Bay, FL and Emma Fagerlund of Pepperill; a sister, Eleanor Maser of CA; one nephew, Keith Petersen; one niece Chris Petersen, and he was the former husband of Marilyn Scott of Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to his Funeral Service on Thursday at 1 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. Peabody location. A visitation will be held from 11:30 AM until the ceremony starts. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
