Obituary of Mary Irene (Civitarese) Margeson

Mary I. (Civitarese) Margeson PEABODY—Mary Irene (Civitarese) Margeson, 83, beloved wife of the late Raymond Ernest Margeson, died peacefully at her home on Monday March 17, 2014, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Leonardo and Liberata (Salviani) Civitarese. She grew up in Beverly and graduated from Beverly High School. She lived in Peabody for 50 years. She also worked as a Hostess at Hilltop Steak House in Saugus for many years. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and needlepoint. She was devoted to her family, and each and every one of them had their special place in her heart. Mary was an outstanding cook in the kitchen. She will be remembered for her roasted potatoes, pasta sauce, and her wonderful desserts. She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Jo-Ann & John Fitzgerald of Beverly and Janet & Anthony Avola of Peabody; a son Anthony Pedra & his family of Lynn; her grandchildren, John-Ray Fitzgerald of Beverly, Jessica Fitzgerald of Peabody, Vanessa and Jenel Avola of Peabody, and Tara Jamison of FL, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, her daughter Donna (Pedra) O’Brien, and her siblings Nicholas, Ernest, Elpido, Carmello “Anthony”, and Rosina Civitarese. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday March 21, 2014 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:30 -- 7:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly. Memorial donations may be made to Children’s Hospital of Boston.
