Obituary of Beverly Ann (Pierce) Lyon

Beverly Ann (Pierce) Lyon 70 of Peabody and Delray Beach, FL, died Monday at the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem after a courageous battle with lung cancer surrounded by her husband Charles M. Lyon and other family members. Mrs. Lyon was born in Peabody January 17, 1935 daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret (Herlihy) Pierce. She was raised in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School class of 1952. Mrs. Lyon was predominately a housewife who was employed in the business office of the Pilgrim House Nursing home on a part time basis for eight years. A lifelong resident of Peabody she was a member of St. Ann’ s Parish in Peabody. She loved cooking, gardening, arts and craft and a Europe / Ireland and USA traveler. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her family. She was very dedicated to her parents and opened her home and served as the caregiver to her mother and mother-in-law during their terminal illnesses. She was also devoted to her nephews, nieces and their spouses as she was always part of their lives. Beverly was always there for everyone in need and never expected anything in return and will be missed by all. Mrs. Lyon was especially known for her noted family Christmas parties for children and friends over several years. These parties included hayrides, Santa and his gifts. She frequently had Trolley rides for adult family members and friends during the Holiday Season to review Christmas lights and scenes at noted locations throughout the North Shore. The trolley rides culminated at home where holiday excitement and enjoyment. She was also noted for her Christmas cookie swap and golden girl swimming parties. Surviving her in addition to her husband Charlie of 49 years are 2 sisters, Dorothy and her husband Chester Sparks and Patricia Trueira Mourey all of Peabody; 6 nephews, David Trueira of Wilmington, Brian and Glen Trueira, Dennis LaVoie, Philip Archung all of Peabody and Charles Riddell of Danvers; 4 nieces, Dawn Morey of Danvers, Danielle Smith of Quincy, Donna Cahill of Middleton and Betty McPartland of Beverly and many grand nephews and grand nieces. Her son Charles M. Toby Lyon a member of St. John Preparatory School’ s Sports Hall of Fame predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. At her request there will be no visiting hours. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
