Obituary of Bruce W. Amaro
Bruce W. Amaro, 64, of Danvers, died after being stricken at his home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 .
Bruce was born on August 16, 1949, in Salem, son of Aurena M. (Tavares) Amaro and the late William F. Amaro. In 1955 at the age 6 Bruce was afflicted with Polio and was schooled at home by his mother, and later he attended and graduated from Peabody High School in 1968. Bruce pursued his education at North Community College and received his Bachelor’s Degree in History and English from Salem State College.
Bruce was employed for many years in different capacities at Auto Zone. With only the use of his left arm and hand Bruce mastered his computer skills and enjoyed learning the newspaper reporting business while assisting Nelson Benton at the Salem News. He was presently employed as a freelance writer and reporter with the Eagle-Tribune Haverhill, a position he has held for 3 years.
Bruce is survived by his devoted and loving mother, Aurena M. Houlden of Danvers, and a dear friend, Richard P. Kiley of Salem.
As per his request his family will have a private service. Bruce had also requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
