Obituary of Ronald B Kocur, Sr.
Ronald B. Kocur, Sr., 64, of Peabody, died Sunday evening at Union Hospital in Lynn following a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Marilyn (Burke) Kocur with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Theodore S. Kocur, Sr. and Florence M. (Stone) Kocur. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1968. After high school, Ron enlisted with the United States Navy and served for two years during the Vietnam War and was a reservist for 4 years before he was honorably discharged in October 1974.
Ronald was employed for over 27 years as a shipper/receiver for Fishery Products in Danvers before retiring. After his retirement, he continued working as a driver for Direct Tire in Danvers.
Ronald was very active in the community and coached little league baseball for over 25 years for the National League Major Cardinals team. He also enjoyed camping, and he bowled in many leagues at Sunnyside Bowling in Danvers.
Besides his loving wife of 40 years, he is survived by two sons, Ronald B. Kocur, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Peabody and Daniel Kocur and his fiancé Kim of Beverly, his two brothers, Edward and his wife Merriam Kocur of Somerville, TN, William and his wife Dru Ann Kocur of Danvers, his sisters, Phyllis and her husband Thomas Duda of Lynn, Joanne and her husband Bruce Pinkham of Peabody and Nancy and her husband Fred Hersey of Salisbury, his brother-in-law, Michael and his wife Kim Burke of Peabody, his sister-in-law, Bonnie Carbone of Moultonborough, NH, his father-in-law, Francis Burke of Peabody and is also survived by his grandson Christian Kocur and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Theodore S. Kocur, Jr.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Expressions of sympathy can be made in his name to the Peabody Little League, P.O. Box 683, Peabody, MA 01960.
