Obituary of Claire A. (Mitchell) Hanlon

Claire A. (Mitchell) Hanlon PEABODY — Claire A. (Mitchell) Hanlon, 82, beloved wife of the late Robert F. Hanlon, died peacefully early Saturday morning April 12, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Catherine “Dolly” (Curran) Mitchell. She grew up and attended schools there. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Boston. She later studied at Leslie College. Mrs. Hanlon worked at Marshall’s Department Store, Madico Medical, and Deschamp’s Printing. Claire’s passion was nurturing her family, and passing along those values through four generations. She had a very devoted faith and was very active at St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody, where she was active in the Sodality and many other activities. She volunteered with the Home for Little Wanderers, and as a concerned parent active while her children attended St. John’s School in Peabody, and was on the St. Benedict Guild with Bishop Fenwick, and she supported the hockey program at Bishop Fenwick, proud of her role as one of the original Hockey Moms. She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Denise Mroz & her husband John ofBeverly, Joan Bedard & her husband Mark of Peabody, Patrice Hobbs & her husband Mark of Medford, Robert Hanlon, Jr. & his wife Judy of Beverly and John Hanlon & his wife Collette of Rowley; 12 grandchildren, and she was grandmother of the late Matthew Hobbs; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister Mary Walsh of Cambridge, a brother-in-law Robert Johnson of Woburn, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday April 16, 2014 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 -- 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust in memory of Matthew Hobbs, 1 Autumn St # 731. Boston Ma 02215.
