Obituary of Louis J. Rolfo

Louis J. Rolfo, 89, beloved husband of the late Frances (Conti) Rolfo, died unexpectedly at Salem Hospital on Sunday following a brief illness. Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Eugenia (Lusso) Rolfo, and lived most of his life in Peabody. He attended Peabody schools, and lived in Franklin, NH for 11 years. He was a Supervisor with J.J. Riley Leather in Woburn for over 20 years from which he retired 22 years ago. He previously worked with the Louis Verza Tannery in Peabody and in Franklin, NH. Mr. Rolfo was a Past President and member of the Italian-American Club in Peabody and in Beverly, served on the J.B. Thomas Hospital Board of Directors, the former Warren Five Bank in Peabody Board of Directors, and a former member and Past President of the Franklin, NH Rotary Club. He was an avid golfer, mostly at the former Folly Hill now Beverly Golf & Tennis Club where he once had a Hole in One, he served on the Steering Committee on the Peabody Golf Committee in developing The Meadows Golf Course in Peabody, was a recipient of the Pride in Peabody Award in the 1990’ s, and was active as a volunteer giving rides to the polls on Election Days. He is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene & Stewart Wilson of Lake Wales, FL and Jean & David Sullivan of Peabody; four grandchildren, Christopher Wilson of Haverhill, Craig Wilson of Longmont, CO, Jason Wilson of Keene, NH and David Sullivan of Peabody; two great-granddaughters, Julia & Ellie Wilson of CO, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Conti) Rolfo and a sister, Pauline Tonello. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John's Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
