Obituary of Anne Alberta (Hamilton) Sheehy

Anne Alberta (Hamilton) Sheehy, 96, of Nantucket, wife of the late Philip C. Sheehy, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Our Island Home with her family by her side. Alberta was born in Salem, on May 29, 1917, daughter of Joseph and Agnes (West) Hamilton. She was raised in Salem and graduated from Salem High School. She resided in Peabody until the death of her husband Philip and in 1989 she moved to Nantucket to be near her daughters. Alberta worked for many years in Peabody with Phil Evans designing floral arrangements and then at the Garden Shop in Nantucket for another 6 years. She and her late husband were former members at Salem Country Club, enjoyed ballroom dancing, cooking, crocheting, decorating at the holidays and doing jigsaw puzzles. Alberta is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy Sheehy and Deborah “Debbie” Dilworth and her husband Kimbrough all of Nantucket; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Dilworth and her husband Vincent Vieules, Taryn Dilworth, Danny Sheehy, Travers Grant and Emily Grant, and a great grandson, Toby Grangrade. Alberta’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., (downtown location next to City Hall) Peabody. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. following the visitation hours. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
