Obituary of Maria (Couto) Vidinha
Maria (Couto) Vidinha, 75, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Antonio Vidinha.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Virginio and Clara (de Jesus Peixuto) Couto. She was raised and educated in Portugal and later immigrated to the United States and Peabody 45 years ago.
Maria was employed as a house keeper for many years at Union Hospital in Lynn, Lahey Clinic, the former JB Thomas Hospital and Kindred Hospital in Peabody before retiring in 2004.
She is survived by her five sons, Edwardo, Gino, Manuel, Anthony, and Nuno Vidinha Sr., all of Peabody, her brother, Manuel Couto, her beloved grandchildren, Alyssa Vidinha, Crystal Gagnon, Alisa Gagnon, and Nuno Vidinha, Jr., and is also survived by many more grandchildren and great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Maria C. Silva.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Ave, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
