Obituary of Maria M (Medina) Espinola

Maria M (Medina) Espinola, 98, of Peabody, died peacefully early Thursday morning at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Joao Espinola. Born in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Jose B. and Maria (Cunha) Medina. She was raised and educated in Portugal before moving back to Peabody where she has lived for over 45 years. Maria was employed as an assembler at the former Ideal Baby Shoe Company in Danvers for over 15 years before retiring many years ago. She was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a member of the Holy Ghost Society as well. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Norberto and Deolinda Espinola of Graciosa, Azores, Portugal and by her daughter and son-in-law, Elisabete and Manuel Machado with whom she lived with in Peabody, her five loving grandchildren, Eutimio and his wife Jodi Machado, Duarte and his wife Michelle Espinola, Jose Antonio and Paula Espinola, and Sandra and Gary Lussier, all of Peabody and Norberta and Olgario Silva of Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, and is also survived by eight great grandchildren and by three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Manuel, Ivo, and Guilhermina Medina. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Ave, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
