Irene DiPaolo, 88, of Peabody died suddenly on March 28, 2014 while visiting her daughter, Nancy Bullock, in St. Augustine, Florida. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo L. DiPaolo with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Virginia (Herdemian) Markarian. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. After marriage, she moved to Beverly where her three children were raised. Irene was employed as an office worker and school crossing guard in Beverly and later as a bookkeeper for The Nautical Inn in Lake Havasu City, AZ where she and Leo retired and lived for 30 years. She moved back to Peabody after Leo died and lived with her brother, William. Irene is survived by her son and daughter in law, Robert and Diana DiPaolo of Middleton, her two daughters and sons in law, Nancy and James Bullock of St. Augustine, FL and Kathleen and Timothy Horton of Anchorage, AK, her brother, William Markarian of Peabody, and also by her four loving grandchildren, David, Stephen, Jesse, and Miles. Her family was the love of her life. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed having her extended family for holiday gatherings. Irene was of strong faith and donated much time in her later years at the Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Havasu City both in the office and in the soup kitchen. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Church Street, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
