To Georgies Aunt whom I know from working at MGH at Hawthorne Place and to the entire family I want to offer my deepest condolences. I knew Georgie since he was a child and he was a remarkable, optimistic young man who dealt with the many obstacles in his life with amazing maturity and grace. I will always remember him and his star quality smile. I know that he is gone physically but that his vibrant presence watches over his unborn little girl and his family now. God Bless you all. My deepest and sincere sympathy to both the families of George and Dana - two incredibly good people. I know George only through my special friend, Dana. I became aware pretty quickly of the strength, perseverance, and faith that they both possessed. One could not help but see the incredible bond, special friendship, and deep love that they shared with each other. I was in awe of that special love and there is, no doubt, that they were soul - mates in the truest sense. God works in mysterious ways - some ways that we can't understand but I sense that George and Dana understood and accepted George's illness with grace but also knew that God had blessed them, as well, by giving them to each other for almost twelve years. There are many people who don't experience their kind of sacred and pure love. There is, no doubt, that George is at peace with his God. Dana, you know that George will always be in your heart and you have his daughter, Layla - what an incredible gift and tribute from God. Although, I know you to be incredibly strong, Dana - please understand that you have a wealth of family and friends who love, cherish, and treasure you - so, please give us the opportunity to help and share your journey. <br> With All the Love in My Heart - Pauline

As a Peabody police officer I worked at Syms as security when George worked there in high school. As kids go he was not the norm. He had health issues then but never used it as a crutch, he strived to be a normal kid and never let his limitations get the better of him. I've worked with a lot of brave men and women in my career. He is by far one of the bravest I ever met. I do know where his strength comes from because I also worked with Yia Yia at Syms. She is by far the bravest person I have ever come across. She buried a husband, a son and now a grandson but when you see her she will be more concerned about you than herself. George got that from her and did her proud. I hope George's daughter gets that strength.

My nephew was easily the strongest, most courageous and unassuming person I've ever known. Right up the very end, he handled his life and his illness on his terms, and in a way that commanded respect. He didn't complain. He didn't make excuses. He simply did what needed to be done. This world was better with him in it, and I personally will miss him very much.

What I am nearly 100-percent sure was the only time I ever met George was at his Uncle Brian and Aunt Maria's wedding in June 1993. He was an adorable, vibrant little boy cutting a rug with the best of them at the reception. He really made me smile that day. Over the years, I followed his story through Brian and Maria, joining my prayers with theirs when things were tough, feeling joy with each wonderful thing that happened, most especially George and Dana's wedding and the news of their expected baby girl. George's story was one of unwavering courage and an enthusiasm for life that even as a distant bystander I feel blessed to have known about. My deepest condolences to all of his family and friends. Thank you for sharing some of this wonderful man's life with me.

Sadly the Air Force has kept me away from home , friends, and family for the last 8 years and George and I lost touch. I am truly sorry for everyone's loss especially Dana. I wish I could be there in person but I'm expecting my second child any day now. George and his family have been in my thoughts since I heard the news. God bless
