Fond reflections of Mr. McLaughlin. He was my 6th grade teacher (1954-55) at the old Kiley School. I remember him coming out to the home of a West Peabody girl who had run away, to see if he could help. Tom was a real humanist and person to emulate. He certainly showed a lot of patience allowing me to play right field on the Kiley baseball team :o)

My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to the McLaughlin family. I knew Tom through his work at Catholic Charities over 35 years ago. I could not live long enough to express my gratitude to him for having instilled belief in myself and helping me to recognize my own strength to deal with all that life would hand me.
May you rest in peace, dear friend and know that I will never forget you.

Mr. McLaughlin, farewell and Godspeed. I thank you for being my 6th grade teacher at Kiley in 1954-55. As my only "man teacher" in elementary, you played football with us at recess and coached our basketball and baseball teams. You encouraged us to sing songs without having to "learn music" and to write stories without worrying about "penmanship". I went on to a career in teaching and even though I tried to emulate you, I fell way short of the model you created and practiced. God bless.

I was a student of Mr. McLaughlin's at Kiley School and I was madly in love with him! He was a wonderful teacher and a kind, caring person who made me look forward to coming to school. The last time I saw him, I was an adult singing in the Interfaith Choir and when I looked into the congregation, there he was right in front smiling at me. I'll never forget him. My heartfelt sympathies to his entire family.

Mr. McLaughlin was my 6th grade teacher. Our classroom was on the second floor of the Kiley and because of the growth of West Peabody, the auditorium was divided to create the classroom. He was a terrific teacher and left me with fond memories. My deepest sympathy to his family and may he rest in peace.

I got to know Tom and Pat during Handicapped Encounter Christ (HEC) retreats and found him to be a wonderful presence- someone with whom I always enjoyed being around, speaking and spending time. My heartfelt prayers are with Pat and the family. With Love, Ted

I've had the pleasure of knowing Tom McLaughlin since I was 13 years old, and the McLaughlin household was my home away from home growing up. I have wonderful memories of those times and Tom, as patriarch, was a big part of that. I'm truly fortunate to be a friend of his wonderful family. I remember when he retired, Wynne told me he was completely blown away by all he testimonials of people who related how Tom's actions at Catholic Charities had helped their lives. Of course, in his modest way Tom had never mentioned any of this to his kids. It made him even more proud of his dad.

His was truly a life well lived. RIP, Mr. M!
