Obituary of Ventura M. Carvalho

Ventura M. Carvalho PEABODY--Ventura Marcal Carvalho, 83, born July 8, 1930 in Penafirme da Mata, Portugal, died peacefully at home on April 27, 2014 with his wife and youngest son by his side. Ventura married his beloved wife, Theresa, on July 18, 1961 and moved to Peabody, MA where they started their family. He was the father of Joaquim “Jack” of Clarkston, MI, Ventura “Vinny” of Peabody and Maria Tagliaferro of Medway. He was the grandfather of Nate, Ashtyn, and Camryn and the father-in-law of Mark Tagliaferro and Kelly Shepard Carvalho. He is also survived by his beloved sisters and many nieces and nephews. He was a longtime member of the Club Luiz De Camoes (CLC) Portuguese Social Club of Peabody, an avid fisherman, winemaker, gardener and woodcrafter, and a lifelong fan of Benfica Football Club and boxing. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday May 2, 2014 at 8 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Peabody Fire Department in appreciation for their support or to Our Lady of Fatima Church.
