Obituary of Alice (Agrella) Pedra

Alice (Agrella) Pedra, 84, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at her home surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Walter Pedra with whom she shared over 61 years of marriage. Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Leibana (Nascimento) Agrella. She was raised and educated in Dracut and was a graduate of Dracut High School, class of 1947. She was been a resident of Peabody for the past 54 years. Alice taught special education and was a teacher’s aid for the City of Peabody for over 27 years, at both the South Memorial and West Memorial Schools. Alice enjoyed traveling with her husband all across North America and throughout the local area and especially enjoyed her trips for ice cream. She also enjoyed Ball Room Dancing with her husband and loved being in her back yard tending to her garden and flowers. Her greatest joy came on Sundays when shared her family dinner with her children and later her grandchildren. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Laura Pedra of Arundel, ME, her daughter and son-in-law, Jo-Ellen and Dana Smith of Kingston, her sister, Dolores Sousa of Dracut, and is also survived by her four loving grandchildren, Taylor and Matthew Pedra and James and Eric Smith and by her niece Beverly Ann Gray of Dracut. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Nascimento. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St.Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
