Obituary of Irene May Quartarone
Irene May (Batista) Quartarone, 74, of Peabody, died Saturday evening at the Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Frank Quartarone with whom she shared over 55 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Phoebe (Silva) Batista. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Schools and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1945.
She had worked for over 30 years as a waitress at Bertini’ s Restaurant in Salem prior to her retirement. She also enjoyed painting, arts & crafts, reading and gardening.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Evy Quartarone of Hampstead, NH, and Stephen and Gina Quartarone of Shapleigh, Maine; a daughter and son-in-law, Mickey and Charlie Slattery of Dracut; also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Joseph Batista, Evelyn Ballas, Lucy Batista, and Mae Mary Wright.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Fatima Church,Walsh Ave. Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to the VNA of Danvers, 5 Federal Way, Danvers, MA 01923.
