Obituary of Edward L. Morrison
Edward L. Morrison
LYNN—Edward L. Morrison, 93, beloved husband of Charlotte “Lottie” (Jezowski) Morrison of Lynn, died on Thursday May 1, 2014 at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital in Salem, after a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, he was the oldest son of the late John and Ellen (McMahon) Morrison. He grew up in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School. He joined the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II, where he received a Purple Heart as a result of injuries he received during combat in Belgium. He then married his lifelong partner and moved to Lynn where he lived the last 67 years. He worked for General Electric in Lynn for 41 years before retiring 30 years ago.
For many years he was Mr. Fix-it for his entire family in a variety of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry problems. He had a love for Irish culture and music, and played a little violin in his younger days. He was proud of his uncle, the famous fiddler James Morrison of Ireland. Family was always most important to him. He treasured his time with his wife, sons, and their families, and his sisters and brothers. He was very proud to put both his sons through St. John’s Prep High School and college (Boston College and Worcester Polytechnic Institute). He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte “Lottie” (Jezowski) Morrison of Lynn, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage; two sons and daughters-in-law, John & Jeanne Morrison of Chelmsford and Robert & Paula Morrison of Middleton; five grandchildren, John Jr., Julie and Sarah Morrison all of Chelmsford, and James and Sean Morrison both of Middleton; his siblings, Betty LeBlanc of Newburyport, John J. Morrison of Salem, Ellen Morrison of Peabody, Ethelwyn Morrison of Peabody, Claire Morrison of Peabody, Margaret Abbott of Wakefield, Alice Morrison of Wakefield, and Loretta Coombs of Beverly, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by brothers Frank and Robert, and sister Mary Allain, and recently his granddaughter Rachel Morrison of Encinitas, CA, formerly of Chelmsford.
