Obituary of JoAnn L. (Mooka) Petrillo

JoAnn L. (Mooka) Petrillo, 83, of Peabody, died Wednesday afternoon at her home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Anthony Petrillo. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Stella (Gonsiorowsky) Mooka. She was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1948. She continued her education at Curry College in Boston and received her degree in Business. JoAnn was a long time owner and operator of Mooka-Petrillo Realtors in Peabody and also ran the Clinique Counter at Jordan Marsh for over 20 years. She also was the owner of the Stoppers Grille in Peabody for many years as well. JoAnn was very active in the community and volunteered many hours to the city for the Mayors Picnic, the International Festival and at Haven from Hunger. Her real passion and joy was being with her grandchildren and working in her garden at her home on Lynn Street. She will be dearly missed by all. JoAnn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael A. and Sheila Petrillo, and her daughter and son-in-law, LuAnn and Skip Glabicky, all of Peabody, her beloved five grandchildren, Courtney and her husband Ned Brackenbury, Hayley and her husband Jay Camporese, Michael E. Petrillo, DeAnn Larrabee and her fiancé Steven Gallagher, and Sean Glabicky, and is also survived by two great grandchildren, Cormac Brackenbury and Ainslie Camporese. Visiting hours for JoAnn will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial services will be private. Donations can be made in her name to either Haven from Hunger, 71 Wallis St., Peabody, MA 01960, or Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
