Obituary of Bruno Calderan

Bruno Calderan, 88, of Peabody and formerly of Danvers and Swampscott, died early Thursday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Josephine (Piccadaci) Calderan with whom he shared over 62 years of marriage. Born in Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Sospiri) Calderan. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 6 and attended Lynn and Swampscott Public Schools. He later lived in Danvers for 26 years and has lived in Peabody for the past 27 years. Bruno was a veteran of WWII who served with the United States Army and was the recipient of the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon. After the war, Bruno was employed with Eastman Gelatin in Peabody for over 21 years before he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Club of Topsfield. Besides his loving wife, Bruno is survived by his siblings, Erminio and his wife Margaret, Virginia Donnelly and her husband Larry, Anthony and his wife Carolyn, all of Lynn and Mary Considine of Penacook, NH, his brother-in-law, Gerald Donovan of Peabody, his granddaughter Rebecca Calderan and his great grandchild John James, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son James Calderan and brother Armand Calderan and sister Antoinette Donovan. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, Park St., Topsfield to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM and burial will be in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to MGH/ North Shore Cancer Center, 102 Endicott St., Danvers, MA 01923.
