Obituary of Helvi (Nurmela) Healey

Helvi (Nurmela) Healey, 85 years, formerly of Newcastle Rd., Peabody wife of the late Jack Dint Healey died Friday at the Sunrise at Gardner Park in Peabody. Mrs. Healey was born Oct. 25, 1916 daughter of the late Anton and Hilja Nurmela. She was raised and educated in Peabody graduating from Peabody High School class of 1935 and was a lifelong resident. She attended Salem Commercial School for 2 years. She was employed for more than 25 years as a secretary at the Kiley School in Peabody retiring in 1997 at age 80. In all of her jobs she valued the wonderful people with whom she worked and especially enjoyed her interaction with the children at school. Mrs. Healey had a great appreciation for art and enjoyed sketching and painting for many years. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Judge J. Dennis and Donna Healey of Peabody, Attorney Robert and Christine Healey of Glastonbury, CT and Attorneys Richard and Mary Healey of New Britain, CT; 8 grandchildren, Pamela, Alison, Brian, Lisa, Spencer, John, Mary Kate and William Healey; a great grandson, Benjamin Healey and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Edward Nurmela. Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Cahill-Brodeur facility at 20 Church St., Peabody (978-531-0472) of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
