Obituary of Mary A King

Mary A. King, 84, wife of George E. King Sr. died peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 18, 2014. She was born in Boston on March 19, 1930 and lived in Revere until 1958 when she moved to Peabody. Mary lived with her family in Centerfield for 13 years until she and her husband, George moved to Manhattan Beach, California in 1973. Mary and George returned to Massachusetts in 1978 and made their home in Lynnfield where she lived happily for many years. Mary worked as a hostess at the Proctor House in Peabody and as an office manager at Analogic, also in Peabody. After retiring, Mary enjoyed painting, golfing, bird watching, traveling with her husband and most of all spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, George Sr., her sons George King Jr. of Boxford and his wife Maureen, and John King of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Mary is predeceased by her daughter, Julie Filmore and her son Thomas King. Mary had nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mary was born to be a wife, mother and grandmother. Her capacity for love for her family was inspiring to all. Her beautiful smile was genuine and could light up a room. She had a clever wit and a kind word for all who knew her. We all consider ourselves fortunate to have lived alongside Mary all these years. A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 22 at 10: 00 AM at the funeral home, followed by burial at Forest Hills Cemetery, Lynnfield. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 (www.alz.org) or to the VNA Middlesex East, 607 North Ave., Ste. 17, Wakefield, MA 01889 (www.vnaofme.org).
