Obituary of Kathryn A. (LaPointe) Lyons

Kathryn A. (LaPointe) Lyons PEABODY—Kathryn A. (LaPointe) Lyons, 78, beloved wife of John P. Lyons of Peabody, died peacefully on Tuesday May 20, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a brief illness, while she was in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Winifred (McGivern) LaPointe. She was a lifelong resident of the city, and graduated from St. John the Baptist High School. Kathryn enjoyed nurturing her family, and living quietly at home. She enjoyed reading, and also getting out of the house to attend Bingo nights, or an occasional trip to Las Vegas. She is survived by her husband John P. Lyons of Peabody, with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage; three sons, Robert Lyons & his wife Linda of Salem, Kevin Lyons of Wenham, and Mark Lyons of Peabody; three grandchildren, Christopher Lyons, Patrick Lyons, and Julia Lyons; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by a daughter Laurene, a brother Philip LaPointe and a sister Loretta McSweeney. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday May 23, 2014 for a visitation in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, from 10 – 11:30 AM. Her Funeral Service will be at 11:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
