Obituary of Christos J. Kopoulos

Christos J. Kopoulos LYNN—Christos J. Kopoulos, 69, of Groveland, formerly of Lynn, beloved husband of Fotoula “Fofo” (Lolas) Kopoulos of Groveland, died peacefully on Tuesday May 20, 2014 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. He was comforted to be in the presence of his family. Born in Messini, Kalamata, Greece, he was the son of Anastasia Kopoulos of Seneca, SC and the late John Kopoulos. He came to the United States with his family at 10 yrs old, settling in Lynn. He lived on the North Shore for 50 years before moving to New Hampshire, then lived in Groveland for the last year. He enlisted and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Christos started his employment in the family garment manufacturing in Lynn. He enjoyed his career in Car Sales, where he was known as “Chris K, The Car Guy.” His work included time with Bob Brest Buick, Davy Chevrolet, and North Hampton Acura. Mr. Kopoulos also kept active with his independent car sales business until recently retiring. He enjoyed travel, and would regularly return to Greece each year. Transportation vehicles of all kinds were a hobby for him, and he maintained a Private Pilot’s License. Besides those activities, he was involved with St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Lynn. He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family and friends, and his generosity in helping others in any way possible. He is survived by his wife, Fotoula “Fofo” (Lolas) Kopoulos of Groveland, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage; two daughters, Tessie & her husband Josh Mower and Patty & her husband Phil Klibansky all of Groveland; two grandsons, Joshua and Nicholas Mower of Groveland; his mother, Anastasia Kopoulos of Seneca, SC; a sister Eva Tempenis of Seneca, SC; three brothers, Charles Theodorakopoulos of Lynn, Peter Kopoulos of North Conway, NH, and Bill Kopoulos of Lynn, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday May 24, 2014 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
