Mary (Torigian) Foley
PEABODY—Mary (Torigian) Foley, 81, beloved wife of Lawrence Foley of Peabody, died peacefully on Sunday morning May 25, 2014 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading.
Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Andon and Sara (Andonian) Torigian. She grew up in Peabody where she attended schools and graduated from Peabody High School. She was an enthusiastic, life long resident of the city.
Mrs. Foley was very involved in the City of Peabody. Active in politics, she was on the Peabody Democratic Committee and long-time campaign volunteer with her brother, Mayor Peter Torigian’s, elections among many other campaigns. She volunteered with Alanon and helped in Prison Ministry, and she was a very faithfully devoted member at St. Adelaide’s Church and a supporter of St. Gregory's Armenian Church . She was involved with the Cursillo Movement which enriched her spiritual development. Mary was most passionate about her family, proud of her Armenian culture, and as a very generous person people were her interest.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence Foley of Peabody, with whom she shared nearly 62 years of marriage; two daughters, Roberta “Bobbie” Pitkin of West Springfield and Kathleen Foley-Power of West Palm Beach, FL; a son Brian Foley & his wife Carol of Billerica; two grandchildren, Krystle Thomsen & her husband Jeremy and Brian Foley, II all of Billerica; one great-granddaughter Ava Mary Thomsen of Billerica; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Torigian of Salem, Jacqueline Torigian of Peabody, and and Claire Foley of North Andover; several nieces and nephews as well as extended family. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Torigian and Peter Torigian.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday May 30, 2014 at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 – 7 P.M. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
