Obituary of Nellie A. (Witwicki) Danish

Nellie A. (Witwicki) Danish, 88, wife of the late Nicholas F. Danish, died peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2014 with her family by her side at Brentwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Danvers. Nellie was born in Salem, on January 14, 1926, daughter of Francis and Anna (Czosmyka) Witwicki. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School Class of 1943 and was a lifelong resident of the city. Nellie was employed for many years as a cafeteria worker in the Peabody Public School System until her retirement in 1993. She was a loving mother and successful housewife who devoted her life to creating a home for her family, supporting her children in their endeavors and then spending some precious time with her granddaughter Whitney. Nellie will be well remembered as a very independent person who enjoyed her home and gardening as a hobby. Nellie’s family would like to thank the staff of Brentwood (Radius) of Danvers and especially the nurses and aides of 2 East for the great care and compassion they gave Nellie. Nellie is survived by her 2 sons, Robert T. Danish and his wife Lana of Stratham, NH, and David M. Danish and his partner Marsha Ide of Brewster: her cherished granddaughter, Whitney Nicole Danish; a sister, Laura Regis and her husband Joseph of Hampton, NH; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Josephine Cote Goodridge and R. Theresa Leveille. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday June 6, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 12 noon at St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody.
